How many times have you been on vacation and struggled with a map, making yourself look utterly touristy in the process? How many times have you almost gotten into an accident with your car as you were trying to wrestle with a city map?
These situations no longer have to happen with the following ingenious map design. It is called map2 and is a “zoomable” printed map. The map2 removes the need to unfold unnecessary parts or the entire map. Instead you can zoom in to those areas you most desire. In a single folding action chosen parts of a smaller scale map can be unfolded to give an enlarged and more detailed view of that same area underneath.
Have a look at the company’s home page. A very cool idea that applies digital thinking and design to a traditional product and surface. Enjoy.
