James Bond is back in Skyfall and there is relentless media chatter that Daniel Craig is the best Bond ever. When you look at the franchise (see here), there are a lot of things that have changed over the years: villains, bond girls, 007s, locations, and gadgets. We tend to forget that Bond gadgetry have been a fundamental part of the franchise folklore. There is even a Wikipedia page dedicated to them (see here). In the early years, the marvels that Q would hesitantly share with 007 were highly awaited scenes in the movies.

There is one specific gadget that has been admired by fans the world over, and all have their favorites. The importance of this gadget in the franchise is such that manufacturers fight over who will have the chance to be the next one. The gadget that I am talking about is the Bond car. Not only did the Bond car possess some unbelievable features that Q creatively thought up (think of the Lotus Esprit that turned into a submarine in The Spy Who Loved Me), but it was often a very iconic automobile with incredible eye-appeal (see full list here).

In an ode to the Bond car, Evan Halshaw created a stunning infographic that walks you through the history of 007s most power M16 partner. The infographic is below but Evan was able to animate the entire work of art online, paying homage to the legendary gun barrel sequences (see here an edit of those sequences). To see Evan’s work go to his website here. Enjoy.
